Page 7            Time To Add The Engine And All Its Parts
Now it is time before you install the body on the frame to get all the running gear in place. No matter what you are useing for a engine it is time to round it up. Myself I used a GM crate 300 HP 350 Chev. engine and transmission because it is very low cost and has a three year warranty regardless of what car you install it in and they are new parts. Make sure every thing you install on the engine is either new or rebuilt. I installed a new fuel pump, new water pump, and rebuilt the alternator and put all new Accel distributor parts and spark plug wires on the 350. I used a Edelbrock intake and Q Jet carburator for torque and gas mileage. At this time you want to do the exhaust system because its so easy with the body off.If you are going to install AC on the car buy the brackets and install them now. Because you will put the alternator on the left side of the engine so the AC compressor can go on the right side. This will let you wire it right the first time. Now it is time to install the body on the frame. Be sure to use all new body mounts. If the mount holes are out of round you must fix them so the body will not move around. PS make sure any thing you need to do at the firewall you do it now while the engine is in place and the front fenders are not. I mean heater hoses AC hoses, throttle cable, you get the idea. Because if you have to cut holes in the firewall now is the time. The most important thing is the fuse box and wire harness that goes on both sides of the firewall and bolts together because it fits low and is hard to get to with the fenders on.
The Running Gear Is In At Long Last
350 Chevy engine and a 700R4 transmission with a olds rear end with227 gears. It also has a 76 Firebird front clip with disc brakes and  PS.
I had the running gear all mounted in the car but I knew I had a long way to go before it looked like I wanted it to. To make it look smooth under the hood is as big a job as making the outside look smooth.
I purchase a ( www.vintageair ) unit for my 46 Plymouth and it fit fine.  The unit that they made for my car could not be seen while sitting in the seat it was hidden under the dash.  I got the 134 unit for my car and it worked fine.  I am real happy with the outcome.  I put one of the outlets in the center of the dash and one under each side of the dash.  I used the air-conditioning outlets that were in the Cadillac that I bought for parts.  The only thing that you have to be careful of is when you buy the 134 unit do not have the hoses press fitted with a 112 tool.  I had mine put together after I had cut them and they used the wrong tool and it leaked.  Other than that  it has been a couple years now and it still works fine.
