Now is the time if you have any bad floor boards ( like their a car out there without at least a little rust ) to fix it. Most of the time the trunk is where the worst rust is. Cut out all of the rust and weld in new metal they make a special primer for welds and epoxy for raw metal that stops it from rusting again. After I fixed the floors in the Plymouth I used fiberglass sheets and risen and applied a thin sheet this will never let water rust the floor again. It does cost a little more and take longer but it is worth every cent. Besides it keeps heat down and helps stop noise and after sand blasting for two weeks what a little more time. With the help of my wife Ruby we sand blasted the body and all other related parts ( we hate sand blasting ) The one thing I had to do was to add a second tank to my air compressor so I would have a big enough volume of air to sand blast with. After blasting the body inside and out I primered it with epoxy primer . Be sure to put on your paint mask before spraying epoxy primer or any paint. Now believe it or not it is time to pick out your color paint that you are going to use on the Hot Rod. I painted where the dash fits in and all the door openings, the trunk opening, the firewall and all other places that might show. Now before you install the body on the frame there is a couple of things you need to do first. now be sure before you install the body on the frame to remove all the dents that will be hard to get at after the body is on. The Much Hated Sand Blasting |

This is the small garage I told you about. The parts are waiting for me and Ruby to sand blast them. This garage is small but there has been a number of good cars built in it. It helps to have a big garage but you just don't have to and can still build a hot rod. |
