After you buy your car you just cannot start ripping things apart without a plan. If you do not have a plan you will wind up doing things over again and again. You have to plan the car right down to the smallest detail. I mean inside and out. It took me and my wife two weeks to plan the Plymouth. You just have to know where you are going. I mean what engine and transmission, rear end. If you are going to sub frame it and so on. You have to remember that unless you upgrade your brakes and steering system on older cars in todays modern traffic when every one has anti lock and disc brakes you will not be able to stop the old cars as fast and might wreck all of your hard work. You can either buy weld in front end parts or sub frame the car. Also you have to make up your mind if you want a real power rod or one you can drive every day and get good gas mileage. You just can not have both. A good cruiser and a race car in one I know because I have tried. Now is the time to pick before you start building . I have had a lot of race cars so I picked a cruiser. Me and my wife wants to travel route 66 when our rod is done so a race car just would not due. Now do you want a fiftys style rod or a modern type rod. It makes a difference on all parts of the car inside and out but because this is a economy rod you should pick a old style cruiser rod.One reason is you can drive it in primer and its ok untill you can paint it.I have driven mine for three years and am just now painting it. PS even after the planning we did I still found myself doing a couple things over again. Most of it was the dash area and under the hood to get them to look nice. One hour of planning can save you eight hours of work. |

Taking the chrome off the back and adding 39 Ford tail lights and moving the bumper in six inchs made the rear of the car look smooth. |

The lower valance is from a 1996 Dodge Dakota pick up. The parking lights are back up lights from a 1983 Cad sedan. And very little chrome left on and the headlight set back in the fender. |

when I was building my hot rod I did jobs for other rodders on the weekends and at night so I could buy parts for my hot rod. So if you need some work done try to find any mechanic that is building a hot rod to do the work for you. Most the time you will find the job will be done right. |
