Page 15 Installing carpet and remote door openers
I got the ready cut carpet from Andy Bernbaum old mopar parts company and it fit just right and was easy to install. After removeing the  outside door handles I took the door latch unit and welded a arm to the shaft that went to the door handle. I then took the door lock motor from the 1983 Cad. and mounted at the bottom of the inside of the door. I used the door locks and door handle rods from the Cad to make the connection between the doorlatch unit and the door lock motor. This works very good and is quiet and parts are easy to find if one goes bad. Once again very low cost and works great and I did the same thing to all the doors. PS When you are putting together the inside of the car you need to use plenty of insulation and sound deadner. Be sure to use a piece of plastic between the door panel and the door so if any water gets in it wont get the panel wet. Be sure to use plenty if insulation on the firewall to repell heat from the engine.
I would have liked to keep the pillow type seat covers but no one made them in this style.
All of the side panels and arm rests were not with the car so I had to make them and cover them.
I got the seat covers already made for the 83 Cad and they were not that hard to install.
They wanted 1500 dollars to make the pillow type seat covers and it only cost me 250 for the ones on the car already to install out of the box. It took about 6 hours to install the new seat covers.
For all round performance and gas mileage a good set up is a 355 rear end gear and a 700 transmission.  The transmission has a lower first gear for performance and a overdrive and torque converter clutch for gas mileage.
