I did not want the spare tire in the tire rack sticking up. So I built a false floor about 8 inchs deep. I put the battery and all the relays and modules for the remote doors and trunk in the spare tire hole. I put the spare under the lift up floor on the left hand side alone with the jack and some tools. I built panels for the back and sides and covered them with carpet. The remote trunk latch came out of a late model pontiac. Besides the remote release it also has a button in the glove box. The trunk also has a hidden release so if the battery goes dead you can also open it by hand. The remote doors have a toe switch under the door with a switch in the trunk to kill the toe switches. The channel that the weather strip goes in was all rusted out so I took the one out of the 83 Cad and reshaped it and welded it in the Plymouth so the weather strip would fit and not leak. The rear part of the raised box in the trunk is made out of metal. this way something heavy can be put on it and it will hold it the rest of the box is made out of plywood. Don't forget to vent the battery if you put it in the trunk. |

The trunk is nice and clean and it just took a little plywood and carpet to do the job right. |

I left the rear bumper on the car because I live in Florida the capital of the world for getting hit in the rear end .I would still like to put the tag somewhere else just don,t know where. |

when you are going to build any kind of hot rod you will be changing almost all the electrical and add-on equipment. So when you start out get a small notebook and write down all the things you put on the car. This way you will not forget where they go and where the fuse for the trunk opener is. Or later when you sell the car in a few years you will have the book so the new owner knows where everything is. I have found this to be real helpful and it also helps you to sell the car when it becomes time. |

It may become necessary to take a break from building your hot rod if you become tired of it. It takes a long time to build a car and we all get run down at times. Don't give up too many hot rods are sitting around half done. |
